Tennessee State women’s basketball head coach Candice Dupree announced the addition of three new members to her staff for the 2024-25 season. Lady Comfort and Treasure Hunt will serve as assistant coaches, while Jermaine Brown will take on the role of Director of Basketball Operations.
Comfort joins TSU with extensive experience as both a player and a coach. Most recently, she coached at Cal State Monterey Bay from 2021-2023. Her professional playing career included a rookie contract with the Los Angeles Sparks of the WNBA and stints in Serbia, France, Portugal, and Spain. Comfort earned Rebounder of the Year honors in France (2010) and Spain (2014) and was named MVP in the 2013 Tournament of the Americas in Ecuador.
As a collegiate athlete, Comfort played for Temple University, helping the Owls to three Big Five championships and three NCAA Tournament appearances. She left Temple as the program’s career leader in field-goal percentage, ranking 25th on the career scoring list, eighth in rebounds, and seventh in blocked shots.
Comfort began her coaching career at Northwest Florida State, followed by a successful tenure at Tusculum University in Tennessee. She has also spent time in player development at the College of Southern Nevada.
Comfort is a native of Pensacola, Fla., and graduated from Temple with a degree in communications in 2008.
Jermaine Brown brings a wealth of experience to TSU, having spent the last six seasons at Hampton University. Before Hampton, Brown served as the Video Coordinator and Assistant Director of Operations at the University of Minnesota.
At Hampton, Brown was responsible for scheduling, recruiting evaluation, game plan preparation, and player development. During his tenure, the Lady Pirates achieved significant success, including a 14-6 record and multiple individual accolades for players.
Brown’s previous roles include positions at UNC Asheville, Furman University, Southern Wesleyan University, and Columbia College. He holds degrees in business economics from South Carolina State University and sports management from Southern Wesleyan.
Treasure Hunt joins TSU after a four-year Division I playing career. She spent her first two seasons at Kentucky, where she started 30 of 45 games, before transferring to Arizona State.
At ASU, Hunt played in 38 games, starting 30, and averaged 11.3 points and 6.1 rebounds in the 2022-23 season. She was ranked as a top-10 player in the 2020 class by All Star Girls Report and was a five-star guard according to ESPN.com.

Treasure is a near-recent elite student-athlete and is eager to connect today’s player and today’s game to the vision of our evolving team. Jermaine has incredible experience connecting dots behind the scenes and remains dedicated to the critical role that HBCUs play in collegiate women’s ball. I can’t wait to lead and grow our team and our program alongside this lineup.”
